Qatar, represented by Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD), signed a $5mn grant agreement with the government of Albania to finance the reconstruction of two secondary schools and one kindergarten in the capital Tirana.
The agreement was signed by QFFD Director-General Khalifa bin Jassem al-Kuwari and Albanian Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj.
In a statement, QFFD said that the agreement aims at providing equal opportunities and high-quality education in Albania, through the reconstruction of schools and equipping them with all modern facilities.
Two secondary schools are planned to be built on 8,000 and 3,632sq m, besides a kindergarten on 1,875sq m.
The new facilities will serve more than 3,000 people in Tirana.
The signing ceremony was attended by Qatar's ambassador to Albania Ali bin Hamad al-Marri and the Mayor of Tirana Municipality.
