Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced its support for efforts to combat Covid-19 pandemic in Gaza Strip as an emergency response to limit the spread of the virus.
In this regard, the QRCS pointed out that its representation office in Gaza is currently providing urgent assistance to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the Strip, with a total budget of more than $95,000.
QRCS said it has provided Gaza Strip with 800 rapid test strips for Covid-19, as well as big quantities of sterilisation materials, gloves and medical consumables, in addition to 13,000 litres of disinfectant (sodium hypochlorite), shoe covers and leather gloves to enhance the Gaza municipality capabilities in its efforts to sterilise quarantine and public facilities in the governorate.
QRCS has provided Gaza Strip with 800 rapid test strips for Covid-19, as well as big quantities of sterilisation materials, gloves and medical consumables.
Director of the QRCS office in Gaza Strip, Akram Nassar, commented saying that the society was keen to provide urgent assistance to prevent the pandemic in the Gaza Strip as an emergency response to limit the spread of the virus. "Our new interventions have contributed to improving the quality of services provided by the Ministry of Health and the Gaza municipality to curb the spread of the virus in the Strip," he added.
For his part, the infection control in-charge at the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr Rami al-Abadleh, said that the QRCS's supply of 800 rapid examination strips had a great role in supporting the Ministry's preventive measures amid the increasing shortage of medicines and medical consumables.
The Qatar Red Crescent aid comes in light of the continuous need due to the conditions of the blockade that the Gaza Strip has been suffering from for 14 years, and the dire health situation, especially with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has exacerbated the suffering of its residents.
