The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced a six-month closure on part of Izghawa Street in Al Kharaitiyat area, between Gharrafat Al Rayyan Street and Zekreet Street, from Thursday (August 27), in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

During this period, the number of lanes on Izghawa Street heading from Zekreet Street towards Al Rufaa Street will be reduced to one instead of two.

Both lanes on the opposite direction heading towards Zekreet Street will be closed, and road users will have to turn right at the existing roundabout at the intersection of Izghawa Street/Gharrafat Al Rayyan Street, and continue on Gharrafat Al Rayyan Street, then turn left towards Wadi Al Mashrab Street and turn right from it to continue on Izghawa Street to reach their destinations, as shown on the map.

This traffic is to convert the two roundabouts on Izghawa Street into a two signal-controlled intersections, as part of the Roads and Infrastructure Project in Al Kharaitiyat and Izghawa, Package 2.

Ashghal will install sufficient road signage to alert road users about the diversion. In order to ensure safety of all, commuters need to abide by the speed limit of 50km/hour and follow the road signs.
