The General Authority of Customs (GAC) officials have seized 2,152kg of  ‘tambaku’ (a kind of chewing tobacco) from a sugar shipment that arrived at the Hamad Port. According to a video tweeted yesterday by the GAC, the banned substance was found stuffed in 1,435 bags hidden inside the sugar shipment.  The GAC wing at Hamad Port is equipped with the latest devices and the officers are trained to thwart smuggling attempts. Last month, the GAC foiled attempts to smuggle illicit drugs into Qatar. Four packs of crystal meth (Methamphetamine) weighing 734gm were seized at Cargo customs at Hamad International Airport. The Airport Customs officials found the drugs concealed inside ladies bags and dresses.
