Longtime Qatar resident Joseph Coutinho (58) passed away due to cardiac arrest in Doha on Wednesday. He leaves behind his wife, Sharon Coutinho, and their children Jonathan, Nikitha and Annika. The funeral will take place in Qatar.

Coutinho was working as the CEO of Qatar Shipping Company, and has been at the forefront of several charity activities in the country. He was also very active in social activities and an ardent supporter of Indian Community Benevolent Fund (ICBF). Both Coutinho and his wife had extended all the support for the ICBF medical camps and several other social activities in Qatar.

ICBF had honoured him with “ICBF Humanitarian Award" in 2018 in return for his silent contributions as well as for his selflessness and humility. According to ICBF officials, his untimely death has left a vacuum that will remain unfilled for a very long time.

ICBF has conveyed the condolences to his family and all his near ones. “Coutinho was always an active member in all the medical camps of ICBF. He along with his wife, Sharon were in the forefront of several charity activities and had helped financially a number of programmes for the upliftment of needy people in the country. His untimely death is a big loss for ICBF and for the community,” said P N Baburajan, president of ICBF.
