Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber has signed an agreement with Excellence Center for Training and Consulting at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, which aims many training programmes in law, trade and investment for individuals and companies during the academic year 2020-2021.

The agreement was signed by QICCA board member for international relations Sheikh Dr Thani bin Ali al-Thani and director, Excellence Center for Training and Consulting Dr Farid al-Sahn.

QC general manager Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi and Dr Abdulwahab al-Afandi, dean, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies also attended the ceremony.

Al-Sahn stressed the importance of signing this strategic partnership with QICCA because it is specialised in arbitration, negotiation and settlement of commercial disputes.

He also noted that the training programmes, which will be offered by both sides, will reflect the training needs of trainees in many training fields.

Al Sahn expressed the hope to expand co-operation with the Qatar Chamber to serve its members and contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, which focused on human development for nationals and expatriates.

Al-Sharqi thanked the Institute for signing this agreement, noting that this is a beginning for more agreements between both sides.

Al-Sharqi also noted that there is a possibility to create electronic linking between both agencies to enable the private sector to benefit from the programs and training offered by the institute.

Sheikh Dr Thani said the agreement was in the frame of QICCA’s keenness on disseminating culture of arbitration and stilling skills of trainees, indicating that the aim of agreement is to co-operate in organising training and professional programmes in various aspects such as arbitration.

HE also said that these training courses aim to qualify legal and administrative trainees, in addition to law students, to enhance and meet the needs of the evolving Qatari labour market.

Sheikh Thani stressed the leading role payed by QICCA in supplying the legal field with experts and arbitrators and the legal and technical skills necessary to manage legal cases.

“QICCA has qualified many arbitrators who have succeeded in resolving commercial disputes and providing correct legal consultations, as well as providing workshops and seminars related to various legal aspects that were well received by their attendees and participants,” he added.

Sheikh Dr Thani also said the trainees will receive a certificate approved by QICCA and the Excellence Center for Training and Consulting.
