The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the closure of Umm Lekhba Interchange tunnel on Al Markhiya Street in both directions from August 16.
The closure in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic is to enable the construction works on Sabah Al Ahmad corridor while keeping the service roads on Al Markhiya Street open for local accesses.
During the closure, road users will have to use Al Luqta Street and Al Shamal Road to reach Al Markhiya. Road users will be able to use Umm Lekhba Bridge connecting with Al Shamal Road to reach Al Luqta and Al Gharrafa.
Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the closure and requested all to follow them and abide by the speed limit to ensure safety.
