Huawei Technologies is collaborating with Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), along with Qatar University (QU), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Community College of Qatar (CCQ), to hold the ‘Seeds for the Future’ online learning programme.
Thirty-five students are participating in the initiative, which began yesterday and continues until August 14.
The five-day programme will cover the latest developments in cloud computing, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Smart Home, Cyber Security, Digital Trade, Digital Economy, Digital Transformation and industry trends.
“This initiative is part of the long-term strategy of building the national cadres’ skillset and experience readiness to enter the workforce and future leadership programmes. This collaboration between the government and private sector on programmes such as ‘Seeds for the Future’ highlights the importance of the close relationship between the two sectors in working together to enable future talents and expose them to cutting-edge futuristic technologies where growth is taking place,” the company said in a statement.
Mohamed Ali al-Mannai, president of the CRA, said: “I would like to thank Huawei Technologies for their efforts in conducting the fourth edition of Qatar’s ‘Seeds for the Future’ programme to educate the students and develop their information and communications technology (ICT) skills and knowledge. This year, the programme is being conducted online - which is a sign of the key role the ICT sector plays in terms of business continuity during crises, like the exceptional circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The CRA encourages youth to develop their skills and knowledge about this dynamic sector, which contributes fundamentally in various aspects of life, and from our side we work to ensure that the ICT sector develops to meet the needs of the public, contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 goals, transform Qatar into a digital country and develop a knowledge-based economy.”
Li Xiangyu, vice-president of Public Affairs and Communications, Huawei Middle East, said: “Huawei will continuously be committed to empower local talents in Qatar through Huawei’s ICT talent training ecosystem including ‘Seeds for the Future’, ICT competition and Huawei HCIx Certificate. Bringing digital to every person home and organisation, narrowing the digital gap has always been Huawei’s mission.
“We look forward to our collaboration with the Communications Regulatory Authority, QU, HBKU and CCQ to boost ICT skills and knowledge transfer to local students. We are confident this partnership will provide local students with the necessary exposure to learn new industry skills, enabling them to fulfil and contribute to the Qatar digitalisation vision.”
