Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), on behalf of the State of Qatar, has sent a shipment of urgent medical aid to South Sudan to support their efforts in containing Covid-19. This comes in implementation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's directive to send medical assistance to South Sudan.
In a statement Wednesday, QFFD said the shipments, weighing 7 tonnes, were delivered by Qatar Airways and contained medical equipment and supplies such as masks and personal protective equipment for the medical staff. Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari, director-general of QFFD, said: “This medical assistance reflects the great efforts made by the State of Qatar to combat the spread of this epidemic globally, which comes as a matter of joint global responsibility to try to contain the spread of this pandemic.” Qatar Fund for Development has provided urgent medical assistance to some 24 countries since the outbreak of this pandemic.
