Qatar University’s (QU) Admission Department has accepted 3,700 students for the 2020 Fall semester, indicating the acceptance of all Qatari students who submitted and met the accepted admission criteria at the university.
The Admission Department explained that the number of students who applied for admission to Qatar University this semester were noteworthy compared to previous years, which contributed to the colleges reaching the maximum capacity.
The Admissions Department said all accepted Qatari applicants who met the admission requirements were admitted to QU, noting that applications for admission varied to include new students, transferred students and applicants targeting a second bachelor’s degree.
The students who did not have an opportunity to be admitted into the fall 2020 semester can apply for admission for the next semester, Spring 2021.
Fatima al-Mohannadi, acting director, Scholarship and Capacity Building at the Vice-President for Academic Affairs Office, said: “ An electronic introductory meeting will be held for new and transferred students from August 9 to 13.The meeting aims to facilitate time and effort for new students to communicate and provide them needful information. This meeting will include university polices and regulations, and students will be given instructions on how to register themselves for the new semester 2020. In addition, they will learn about the academic counselling services, student learning support services and all other services provided by university.”
The Fall semester 2020 will start on August 16, according to the academic calendar, and students will continue distance learning until the end of the third stage of lifting Covid-19 restrictions.
The university will announce when the students can attend the campus physically, which is expected to start with the fourth stage of easing the restrictions on account of Covid-19.
