In the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, Qaysar was back in the winners’ circle in the Racing TV Handicap at Haydock on Saturday evening.
The five-year-old bay gelding, trained by Richard Hannon, was running over a mile and he sat towards the rear before making up ground under plenty of impulsion in the final 400m.
In the hands of Thore Hammer, he took the lead insides the final 200m and flew to the line for a victory by four lengths and a quarter in the race for three-year-olds and older rated 0-105.
Alternative Fact was the runner-up. The five-year-old gelding is trained by Ed Dunlop and was ridden by George Wood. Al Erayg was a further short head behind in third. He is trained by Tim Easterby and was ridden by David Allan.
It was the eighth win for Qaysar, who was purchased in the Arqana Breeze Up Sale as a two-year-old.
