The Qatari-US working group held a meeting via video conferencing technology to discuss aspects of co-operation between the two sides, within the framework of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of work and combating human trafficking.
The meeting was co-chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Mohamed Hassan al-Obaidli, and Deputy Undersecretary, US Department of Labour Martha Newton. A lineup of officials from both sides attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the steps taken by authorities concerned in both countries regarding precautionary measures to counter Covid-19.
The meeting also discussed joint activities and projects of both sides discussed ways to raise community's awareness of laws and legislation in labour affairs and to combat human trafficking.
The two sides emphasised the need to continue holding meetings to discuss developments in the implementation of the signed memorandum of understanding and agreements between the two sides.
