The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Monday announced 418 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, two deaths and 884 recoveries from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number deaths to 149 and recoveries in Qatar to 100627. The deceased patients were aged 70 and 79 respectively were receiving the necessary medical care, MoPH said.
All new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status, the Ministry added.

Measures to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar have succeeded as is evident from the flattened graph of the progress of the infection and the decrease in the number of new daily cases and hospital admissions, the Ministry said.  Qatar’s proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has made it possible to identify a high number of positive cases in the community, MoPH added.
The Ministry also pointed out that Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world, which is because of Qatar’s young population,  proactive testing to identify cases early and expanded hospital capacity, especially intensive care, which ensured that all patients receive the medical care they need.
The Ministry also reminded that, even though the restrictions are being lifted, and the numbers of new infections are declining, that does not mean that the Covid-19 pandemic has ended in Qatar. The fact that, even now between 50 and 100 people are admitted to hospitals daily with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms, should not be ignored.
Unless all precautionary measures, the country may experience a second wave of the virus and see numbers increasing as it is happening in other countries around the world, MoPH cautioned.
The Ministry said, while the restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures like adhering to physical distancing, wearing face masks,  washing hands regularly. It is also vital to continue to protect the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions.
MoPH also said anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the following designated health centers to undergo the necessary checks: Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, and Al Gharafa. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
