The Police Training Institute at the Ministry of Interior and the Customs Training Centre at the General Authority of Customs signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on exchanging experiences in the training fields. The MoU aims to enhance co-operation and co-ordination in the training specialties and to allow the two sides to exchange academic and practical curricula.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Director of the Police Training Institute Major Ali Saud al-Hanzab, and the Director of the Customs Training Centre, Mubarak Ibrahim al-Buainain.
On the occasion, the Director of the Customs Training Centre, Mubarak Ibrahim al-Buainain said that the signing of this memorandum with the Police Training Institute complements the national role played by both sides and the importance of this in upgrading the professional level of employees and their important role in protecting customs ports, and their efforts to enhance co-operation in various training and consulting programmes, as well as developing human capabilities in line with the best modern practices in the field of detecting and combating smuggling.
Al-Buainain said that co-operation between the two parties will contribute to raising the efficiency of the authority's employees in tightening security and customs controls on borders, as well as enhancing their ability to target cargo and luggage that may be involved in smuggling or constitute a threat to the security of society.
He added that the signed memorandum will also provide qualitative and logistical support to the General Authority of Customs cadres.
The memorandum includes detailed programmes aimed at raising the efficiency and capabilities of the human cadres working in both the Ministry of Interior and the General Authority of Customs to use X-ray devices as well as in the areas of combating the smuggling of drugs, weapons and ammunition, dual-use materials and other dangerous and prohibited materials.
In addition to that, there will be co-ordination between the two sides in the field of exchanging experiences, training staff and specialised researchers, and the work of joint projects in the academic and practical fields.
