The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's (MME) General Cleanness Department has conducted an inspection campaign to spot illegal dumping of construction waste within residential areas and neighbourhoods. Apart from marring the scenic ambience, such waste piles also contribute to insect and pest menace.

Muqbil al-Shemri, director of the General Cleanness Department, stressed that the private sector should abide by the guidelines in this regard to avoid violating the stipulations of law no 18 for 2017 on Public Hygiene and the involved legal consequences.

He also thanked the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya) for their co-operation and quick response in addition to the directors of municipalities for their effective participation in the campaign. The General Cleanness Department has formed a team with the assistant director, the head of the islands and beaches section and a number of the department’s inspectors to draw up plans and solutions to combat the indiscriminate dumping of construction waste within residential areas at night and the consequences.

The team started its work spotting the violations at Muraikh area with the participation of Mabkhut al-Shahwani, head of general control department at Al Rayyan Department, alongside the members of the field work team.
