Tremors of an earthquake in Iran, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, were felt in Qatar Tuesday evening, the Met department tweeted. The Qatar Seismic Network recorded the 5.7-magnitude earthquake in southwestern Iran at 8.18pm Qatar time, the department said, adding that the tremors were felt on the eastern coast of Qatar and in neighbouring countries, too. Meanwhile, Reuters said the earthquake struck Fars province in southern Iran, citing the official IRNA news agency. There was no immediate news of casualties or damage from the quake, which hit near the town of Beyram.
