The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Saturday announced that the competent authorities arrested four persons who violated the home quarantine requirements they had pledged to follow, and for which they are legally accountable, in accordance with the procedures laid down by the country's health authorities.
In a statement, the ministry said the arrests of the four Qatari citizens came in implementation of the precautionary measures in force in the country, approved by the health authorities represented by the MoPH, to ensure public safety and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
The MoPH added that the violators are currently being referred to the prosecution. They are Salem Saad Salem Mohamed al-Habbabi, Salim Hadi Salem al-Hatheeth al-Habbabi, Salem Hadi Mohamed Hadi al-Hajri and Hamid Mohamed Salem Hadi al-Habbabi.
The authorities concerned called on citizens and residents under home quarantine to fully commit to the MoPH's conditions to ensure their safety and that of others.
The ministry's statement stressed that everyone who violates the condition is subject to the penalties stated in Article 253 of Criminal Law No 11 of 2014, Law No 17 of 1990 on protection from infectious diseases, and Law No 17 of 2002 on protecting society.
