Qatar yesterday participated in the meeting held by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean around the latest developments of coronavirus (Covid-19), through remote communication technologies. HE the Minister of Public Health, Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari, represented the State in the forum.
The meeting discussed the countries’ plans and precautionary measures adopted to prevent spread of Covid-19, as well as the repercussions of the virus outbreak in the region and the world. 
In addition, the meet also focused on the strategic measures required to enhance the co-ordination of the efforts of countries in the region. 
HE al-Kuwari emphasised, that Qatar is adopting a collective approach in combating Covid-19, combining all of the governmental and civil efforts in a significant co-operation with WHO. 
The Minister clarified the great importance for diagnoses and early intervention to curb the spread of the disease. She also emphasised the importance of enhancing international co-operation to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on the most affected countries, as well as on the countries those suffer from weakness in their health systems. 
The meeting saw a discussion session around the support that can be provided by the countries to facilitate the WHO efforts and the countries in need in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
