HE the Minister of Finance Ali Shareef Al Emadi participated in the extraordinary meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee, which was held online, to discuss the financial and economic implications of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Ministry of Finance said that the meeting which was within the role of the ministries of finance in the GCC countries was aimed at enhancing financial stability, supporting the economies of the GCC states, stimulating the economy , enabling the private sector to play its role in promoting economic growth under the current exceptional circumstances, evaluating developments and precautionary measures taken by the GCC countries to address the epidemic and its financial requirements, and raising the efficiency of financial and economic performance.
The GCC ministers praised the measures undertaken by the member states to further support the economy and to enable private sector growth. The participants also addressed measures targeted towards supporting SMEs and other sectors directly affected by the pandemic, as well as precautionary measures to limit the impact of the virus on the financial and economic sectors.
They also reiterated their commitment to achieve sustainable growth, preventing the negative risks of the pandemic and its impact on the global economy.
