This comes in the context of the precautionary and preventive measures announced by the ministry to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and pursuant to Article 13 of the Consumer Protection Law No 8 of 2008, which requires suppliers to comply with health and safety requirements, the MoCI said in a statement Tuesday.
The MoCI circular states that the body temperature of delivery personnel has to be checked twice daily, to make sure that they are safe to engage in the business of delivering goods.
Delivery personnel have to be committed to the implementation of health and safety conditions, particularly in terms of wearing masks and medical gloves.
The full name of the delivery employee has to be written on the order, the circular states, adding that the means of transportation have to be sterilised.
Also, orders have to be placed inside disposable plastic bags before delivering them to consumers.
The ministry has emphasised the need for delivery companies to abide by the circular. All violators shall be subject to the penalties stipulated in laws, decisions and regulations in force.
Reiterating the role of consumers in effectively implementing the rules, the MoCI has stressed that it counts on them to report any violations or infringements.
