The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is reaching out to individuals with advice to follow all the precautionary measures issued by the ministry to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
MoPH has heightened the surveillance against the disease with various measures and has reassured the public that the spread of the disease is very limited in the country but has urged them to strictly follow all the preventive measures.
Many of the general public received Tuesday an SMS from MoPH urging them to practice personal hygiene to avoid the spread of the virus.
The ministry is using various measures including SMS as well as the social media platforms to spread the message that people have to take proper measures to avoid the spread of the disease in the community.
The SMS said “The Ministry of Public Health is taking all necessary measures to control the spread of Coronavirus disease (Covid-19). Citizens and residents are urged to wash their hands regularly with soap and water, and/or use hand sanitisers, and avoid contact with people who show symptoms of respiratory infection.”
The MoPH has also advised the public to closely monitor its website for the latest developments and instructions issued by the ministry. Several other organisations such as Qatar Islamic Bank have conveyed the same message to their clients.
The MoPH officials at a press conference on Monday had appealed for cooperation from the public and community leaders, embassies to educate community members on the need to follow the directives to keep themselves hygiene and practise the tips given the ministry.
The ministry has also urged the public to avoid gatherings and public events as much as possible. It has also asked people to avoid any unnecessary travel. As a result, several organisations have cancelled or postponed many of their upcoming events and certain religious groups have stopped their programmes until further notice.
The MoPH has a dedicated page on its website with several educational materials and videos. It also provides guidelines to face the situation arising out of Covid-19. The website is regularly updated and a hotline, 16000 works round the clock to answer any queries from the public related to the disease.
