Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji), with the aim of promoting the health and wellness of its community members, recently hosted its annual Football Tournament for the sixth year in a row.
Held on February 22 at Al Saad Sports Club, the bank’s five-a-side competition saw the participation of teams from several organisations and served as a platform that “reflects the values of community, sportsmanship and team spirit among participants”.
The competing teams represented leading institutions such as Qatar Airways, Alfardan Group, Alkhaleej Takaful Insurance, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Abu Issa Holding, Mannai Trading, Jaidah Group, and Gulf English School.
Team Alkhaleej Takaful Insurance claimed the first place, while Abu Issa Holding came in second, and Qatar Airways in third.
The Football Tournament is one of al khaliji’s annual traditions, “held in the framework of the bank’s community development efforts, by aligning its core values and strategies with Qatar National Vision 2030”, according to a press statement.
“The annual al khaliji Football Tournament has become a festive celebration with our partners and attracts the participation of enthusiasts from a diverse section of the community,” said Omar al-Emadi, group chief business officer at al khaliji. “Congratulations to all the teams and particularly the winners.
“Their wholehearted participation not only made the event a success, but also symbolised the interest of the community into sport and healthy living.”
Al khaliji’s CSR (corporate social responsibility) programme “encompasses developing human capital, sustainable SMEs, social well-being, and sports and fitness”.
