Kuwait and Bahrain confirmed on Monday their first novel coronavirus cases, the countries' health ministries announced, adding all had come from Iran.

Kuwait reported three infections and Bahrain one in citizens who had returned home from the Islamic republic.

Kuwait reports three confirmed cases of coronavirus

Kuwait's Ministry of Health announced Tuesday that initial examinations of people coming from the Iranian city of Mashhad indicated that there are three confirmed cases of coronavirus infection.

In a press statement carried by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Ministry said that the first case of the novel coronavirus has been confirmed in a 53-year old Kuwaiti citizen, and the second in a 61-year old Saudi citizen, adding that the health conditions of the infected people until now is normal and they did not show any symptoms of the disease.

The third case is for a 21-year old man without nationality, the ministry said, pointing out that there are initial indications that the symptoms of the disease appeared and that all three cases are under constant observation by the medical staff.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health confirmed that, in coordination with the relevant bodies and authorities in the country, it has taken the necessary precautions in accordance with the scientific recommendations, conditions and criteria approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). (QNA)
