* Dogpound gym offers classes as part of National Sport Day

From the middle of the desert to the top of a West Bay skyscraper and the centre of the city’s capital, leading US gym Dogpound this week took its training concept into the heart of Qatar’s community. As part of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) National Sport Day activities, Dogpound held hour-long high-intensity interval training sessions at venues across the country, including Education City, Sealine Beach, JW Marriott Marquis’ helipad and Msheireb Downtown Doha.

The Dogpound trainers, led by Kirk Myers – who has trained actor Hugh Jackman – provided members of the community with the unique opportunity to experience their challenging, dynamic and results-driven classes, a press statement noted. With a wide range of equipment such as kettlebells, dumbbells, rope ladders and medicine balls, participants performed a variation of squats, lunges, sit-ups and burpees. “What an experience – I loved it,” said Lauren Mudgway, who took part in the helipad session on Wednesday.
“The session was very diverse, combining bodyweight and free weight exercises, as well as cardio, for a challenging full body workout. The trainers were incredibly enthusiastic – joining in with us and doing parts of the class alongside us, which, of course, was very motivating and spurred me on to work harder. “Plus, the views of Doha were incredible!”
As part of its Qatar National Sport Day involvement, the team also led a series of discussions about the importance of health and wellness. In a talk delivered at the QF HQ earlier this week, the team spoke about staying active in the workplace, offering a series of tips and tricks that could be easily incorporated throughout the day.
Dogpound gained popularity across the world due to it high-profile clients, such as celebrities like Ryan Seacrest and professional athletes like Conor Dwyer, and has become known as the exclusive fitness factory for New York and Los Angeles’ glitterati.
