Mistakes are the essential component of a human being’s life. It is in our genes. A common human being is expected to make a mistake in every phase of his life. It differentiates right and wrong for us. It is very common to goof, everyone does. But getting a second chance for your mistakes is not typical; it’s a blessing for you. Time never rewinds itself, but that second chance gives you the opportunity to rewind your mistake and make it right this time. Second chances make you work harder with more passion. I believe second chances are beneficial.
Have you ever thought of the spirit you show for your second chance? It feels like life is giving you the opportunity to fix what you have previously ruined. We often screw things up in the first place because we don’t realise the scope of the consequences we will face, because of that single mistake. But after ruining our first chance we realise the extent of our loss. Then, we understand the importance of that ‘other’ chance and give our best to not repeat that situation. Honestly speaking, it has occurred personally to me several times at work. Once I was asked to make a presentation. I underestimated the intensity of the task and I almost lost my job. Thankfully, I got a second chance. That chance empowered me a lot, by turning that presentation around in a way to get my promotion!
Second chances or a ‘one more chance’ has great significance in our relationships. Quarrels are a regular component of a healthy relationship. If partners don’t fight and get back together again, anger accumulates leading to a dead end. But you can rarely get more chances for the same mistake. If you are getting one, use if efficiently and prove that you deserve it. Usually people don’t put an effort in giving you second chances in relationships, because it is too hard to risk their feelings again, but if someone is strong enough to give you a second chance, he or she must truly value the connection you both have. Value that second chance and ensure to not mess up again.
If life is giving you another opportunity to build your career, to live with your loved ones, or to do what you dream of, don’t mess it up! Not everyone gets that chance and maybe it’s the last chance for you to do something great for yourself. Just think for once, what would have you lost if your first chance was your last one and you haven’t gotten that second opportunity? The answer itself will tell you the importance of it.
The value and significance of another shot can be seen in the lives of former inmates in prison. After receiving the punishment by court, they must face their fate for the rest of their lives. Every job interview after finishing their sentence asks for previous police records and if finding them, rejects the former prisoner without even discussing the reason behind what they have done. The only thing former prisoners ask for, is for life to grant them a new fresh beginning for a clean record.
Be thankful for the chance life is awarding you with and strive hard to nail it with success!
