The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by schools for girls in the northern cities, and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, represented by the Qatar Academy – Al Khor, organised the first academic and vocational guidance forum as the first educational initiative in the country.
The forum, held at Al Khor Secondary School for Girls, aims to consolidate the professional culture among high school students and introduce them to the areas through which they can serve the state, to the requirements of university life and to the career paths available to them, by visiting the wings of institutions and universities.
The forum in which schools for girls in the northern cities participated is also considered one of the most important activities that help high school students in identifying specialisations available in universities and admission requirements, providing employment opportunities, training and development, career guidance and attracting cadres from high school graduates and universities to enter the labour market and take advantage of the energies in advancing the development of the country.
The forum focused on career guidance for students by introducing the requirements of the labour market and current and future specialisations that institutions and companies desire to appoint graduates as well as educating and encouraging young people to see strategic plans for ministries and institutions, governmental and non-governmental companies and areas of employment and future desired disciplines, and choosing university majors and aligning them with the needs of the labour market, to achieve the goals of sustainable development of the country within the framework of its national vision 2030.
Director of Al Khor Secondary School for Girls Jana’a Mohamed al-Mohannadi said the forum was a success in achieving its goals in light of the legitimate aspirations of students to enrol in one of the colleges to specialise in the field they desire, while head of academic counselling at Ministry of Education and Higher Education Noor Al Maadheed pointed out that Qatar is witnessing human development, a comprehensive renaissance, and tremendous progress in all fields, and highlighted Qatar’s keenness on providing all possible efforts to care for its citizens, qualify and develop their capabilities to participate in building and advancing their homeland.
