The Cabinet's regular meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani on Wednesday mourned the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur of Oman.

One of the Middle East’s longest-serving rulers who maintained the country’s neutrality in a turbulent region, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, died on Friday and his cousin Haitham bin Tariq al-Said was named as his successor in a smooth transition.

Sultan Qaboos had made remarkable achievements for his country and made sincere efforts to enhance joint Gulf strategy, serve Arab and Islamic issues and maintain security, peace and stability in the region and the world, praying to the Almighty Allah to have mercy on his soul and to inspire the royal family and the Omani people with patience and solace, and that the Sultanate of Oman to achieve more development and growth under the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur of Oman.

Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi stated the following:

The Cabinet reviewed topics on its meeting's agenda as following:

The Cabinet reviewed the views of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the Shura Council's recommendation regarding the achievement of the National Food Security Programme (QNFSP), and took the appropriate decision thereon.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision amending some provisions of decision No 36 of 2014 establishing the national committee for the Customs clearance system (single window), and a draft decision of the Prime Minister amending some provisions of decision No 23 of 2016 to form the Coordinating Committee for Single Window System Management.

It also approved a draft decision of the Minister of Justice to extend the period for adjusting the conditions for applying the provisions of Law No 22 of 2017 regarding the regulation of real estate brokerage works.

The Cabinet also approved a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the agricultural field between the Ministry of Municipal and Environment in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture in Hungary, a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of environmental protection and nature conservation between the Ministry of Municipal and Environment in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture in Hungary, and a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the agricultural field between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Portugal.

The Cabinet then reviewed the following topics and took appropriate decisions:

1- Results of the 58th meeting of the Trade Co-operation Committee and the 46th meeting of the GCC Industrial Co-operation Committee.

2- Results of the 39th session of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers.

3- Results of the 35th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation "COMCEC".

4- Results of the 25th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 25).
