The Enrico Mestica School in the city of Macerata in Italy sent a letter of thanks to Qatar for its contribution of 5.6mn euros for rebuilding of its school complex after the damage caused by the earthquake that struck the country in 2016.
In the letter, the teaching staff, students and their families extended their thanks to Qatar for standing with them in this ordeal, pointing out that the geographical dimension between the two countries was not a barrier to the Qatari support. It was a message to them that they are not alone in this ordeal.
The letter underlined the great suffering faced by students commuting to schools due to continuous tremors and the psychological effects on them.
The Qatari support through the reconstruction of the complex had a great impact on the students and mitigated these effects.
The city of Macerata of Italy has celebrated the reopening of its school complex, after the damage caused by the earthquake that struck the country in 2016.
The reconstruction of the school is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Italian government to donate 5.6mn euros to rebuild areas destroyed by earthquake.
