Commercial Bank held a special ceremony at its West Bay headquarters yesterday in recognition of the achievements of the country, as part of the celebration of Qatar National Day 2019.
The bank’s chairman, board of directors, executive management, employees and customers attended the ceremony at the Commercial Bank Plaza. As part of the event programme, an exclusive operetta launched by the bank, ‘Shofto El-Gomar,’ was performed before the audience by young singer Nasser al-Kubaisi and a group of children.
Commercial Bank chairman Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali bin Jabor al-Thani said, “Qatar National Day is a joyful occasion when all Qataris can be especially proud of our nation’s great achievements.
“We take pride in being a Qatari bank and support all four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030 through our activities, with a focus on strengthening the economy through our services and investing in Qatar’s human talent as one of the largest private sector employers in the country.”

Commercial Bank vice-chairman Hussain Ibrahim Alfardan said, “Today, we celebrate our rich heritage and past but also look forward to a bright and prosperous future under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
“Commercial Bank is a Qatari bank, for Qatari staff and Qatari customers and so we have chosen to celebrate National Day this year by hosting a range of traditional Qatari activities, which are vital to maintain and cherish for the years to come.”
In line with its corporate social responsibility commitments, Commercial Bank organised several visits to Qatari entities such as schools, hospitals, Hamad International Airport and centres for people with special needs, where limited-edition souvenirs and gifts were distributed.
The bank also organised activities for its employees to celebrate the rich heritage, culture and history of Qatar and to reflect the love and loyalty of the bank’s employees towards His Highness the Amir.
Additionally, Commercial Bank organised several pre- and post-event activities at its branches, where people enjoyed the Arda performance, Arabian coffee and sweets and a limited-edition set of National Day souvenirs that was distributed.
Commercial Bank managing director Omar Hussain Alfardan said, “Commercial Bank has been part of Qatar’s banking industry for the last 45 years and the Qatar National Day activities that we have organised for our employees are in line with our commitment to Qatar and the community.
“The activities allow our team to collectively bond and express their appreciation of Qatar. They are purposeful activities designed to bring employees together to make a positive impact on the local community.”
Commercial Bank Group CEO Joseph Abraham added, “National Day is a time for us at Commercial Bank to celebrate Qatar’s achievements and its leadership. As a bank, we are thankful for the government’s prudent and far-sighted stewardship of the economy and Commercial Bank is committed to supporting the growth and development of the economy.”
