HE the Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) Abdullah bin Nasser Turki al-Subaie, stressed that the occasion of the National Day is precious in the hearts of all who live in Qatar, as it renew the meaning of pride and belonging in light of growth, progress, prosperity, stability, security and safety provided by the wise leadership.

Headded that this day has a special symbolism, as it renews determination to insist on the importance of hard work to raise the country and achieve the goals of the national vision at all levels, to maintain Qatar's advanced position at the forefront of the most developed countries in the world.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, he said that the celebration of the National Day represents a moral significance as it entrenches the meaning of loyalty, solidarity and unity among the younger generation and contributes to presenting the Qatari heritage and history, and to enhance the awareness of the Qatari people of the greatness of the generation of founders who have laid the foundations for building an independent homeland based on the principle of sovereignty and respect for the other.

HE al-Subaie noted the achievements of the country and how Qatar has strengthened its global presence despite the challenges it faces, especially the blockade, adding that since Qatar woke up to the unjust blockade imposed on June 5, 2017, the Qatari government has taken diplomatic, economic and social steps to block the repercussions of the blockade, and to benefit the most of this sudden reality.

He pointed out that Qatar has dealt with the blockade from the first moment with a calm and sober mentality, and dealt with everything carefully and wisely, and strongly dropped with its clear and logic arguments all the allegations of the blockade countries and their claims that could not convince anyone for imposing an economic and political blockade and a social boycott that has reached the point of separating Gulf families relatives.

He added that two-and-a-half years after the blockade, the Qatari diplomacy has managed to win the respect of many countries in the world, given its rational management of the crisis and its concern for the sovereignty and independence of the state and the freedom of its decisions, and its categorical rejection of the logic of dependency that the blockade countries are trying to impose, so that all have full certainty that Qatar will emerge from the blockade stronger than before.

He pointed out that the Qatari economy was the first target of the blockade, pointing out that Qatar was able to absorb the first shock, and started working towards self-sufficiency and implementation of the food security plan, and continued to implement its strategic plans to achieve the goals of its national vision and continued to implement infrastructure projects and bridges and roads and Metro network and the World Cup stadiums began to open their doors to host international sports events before the organisation of the World Cup Qatar 2022.

HE al-Subaie added that the achievements have continued at all levels and the growth rates have maintained their constant and ambitious levels and Qatar has demonstrated the strength and cohesion of its stances and the ability of its people to resist and challenge the blockade and this has created a national situation that can be built upon and used in educating future generations on the meanings of loyalty, sovereignty and capabilities of the country.

On the efforts of the QCAA in the implementation of Qatar National Vision 2030 and its current development strategy 2018-2022, he explained that the development strategy 2018-2022 is part of a series of successive development strategies that translate the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 at the level of its four pillars of human, social, economic and environmental development, to achieve the aspirations of the Qatari society towards transforming Qatar by 2030 into a developed country capable of achieving sustainable development, and to ensure a decent living for its people generation after generation.

HE al-Subaie stressed that the QCAA works in parallel with the State's strategic plans and national vision, in strengthening the air transport sector and ensuring its security, safety and sustainability.

He added that at the level of human and social development, the Authority is working to prepare national youth cadres and attach them to local and international colleges and universities to specialise in various fields related to aviation.

Within the framework of social responsibility, HE al-Subaie stressed the keenness of the Authority to contribute effectively in building society through providing high-quality services to individuals and institutions, building partnerships, organising workshops and seminars and hosting conferences and events related to the aviation and meteorological sectors, in order to contribute effectively to the development of society and consolidate the central role of civil aviation in supporting and stimulating the various productive and vital sectors affecting the national economy.

He concluded that in parallel with its efforts to develop the aviation industry and signing air service agreements to expand Qatar Airways' network of operations, the Authority is keen to take into account the concept of sustainability and preservation of environmental resources by engaging with international initiatives launched by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in the field of carbon emission reduction and compensation, as well as the adoption of environmentally friendly materials in civil aviation facilities, while the national carrier's acquisition of the world's newest aircraft fleet reinforces the concept of environmentally friendly aviation.
