Iraqi ambassador to Qatar Omar Ahmed Karim al-Barazanchi underlined that the relations between Qatar and his country are witnessing great and continuous leaps in terms of strengthening them in the interest of the two countries and their peoples.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar National Day, the ambassador said that Iraq and Qatar have common bonds based on the historic extension of brotherly relations between the two countries, as well as the deep social roots and the common aspirations of the two peoples, stressing that the Iraqi-Qatari relations are witnessing positive and rapid development.
The two countries agree on the need to intensify and strengthen co-operation in all fields.
Iraq and Qatar have a common vision, which is the need to resolve the crises and problems between the countries through dialogue and peaceful means, stated the ambassador, noting the efforts to work together to achieve the goals of development, peace, stability and well-being of the two brotherly peoples.
He expressed the sincere congratulations of the Government and people of Iraq to the government and people of Qatar on the occasion of the National Day, expressing his wishes of further progress, prosperity and successes at the local and international levels.
Al-Barazanchi said that Qatar’s celebration of its National Day reflects the desire to revive this special date for the young people and future generations and to make them aware of it and to discover the historical, cultural and social experiences of the past and use them to link the past to the present.
He noted that history reflects many things showing the distinctiveness and originality of peoples, and the celebration of the national day confirms the degree of loyalty to their homelands.
The Iraqi ambassador praised the effective policy of Qatar at the internal and external levels. “The State of Qatar has pursued an effective and successful policy both domestically and as part of its foreign policy,” he said, adding that a country’s foreign policy is an extension of its domestic policy, by building a coherent internal structure based on a solid foundations and a long-term strategic vision, to move abroad at a steady pace, enabling it to build balanced foreign relations based on co-operation and common interests.
He added that the most important lesson given by the government and people of Qatar is the ability to deal positively with the realities of geopolitics to be an important player and an active diplomatic station by hosting international conferences, events and exhibitions on a permanent basis, as well as sporting diplomacy and organising world championships, up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is a source of pride for the entire Arab world.
