Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation has launched a series of activities and attractions in the run-up to the Qatar National Day celebrations.
Accordingly, various shows, operettas, displays, presentations on the national culture and heritage as well as drone and fireworks displays have been lined up in co-operation with different ministries and government and private entities until December 19.
The events will be held from 3pm to 10pm on all days.

The celebrations were officially launched by Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, adding to the nationalistic feeling and patriotic fervour.
Qatar’s national dance Ardha at the Katara waterfront will "provide the quintessential fervour as the activities are enjoyed by all" leading to Qatar National Day on December 18 at the cultural village, a press statement notes.
The ‘Loyalty Book of the National Day’ is once again on display. The book containing the signatures of visitors from previous years is on display for the seventh consecutive year.
Katara is also presenting its cultural market, heritage collections, 'Qadimek Nadimak' - an exhibition of antiquities, national shows, competitions offering gifts and a PlayStation championship (FIFA 2020).
A National Day operetta titled 'This is Qatar', directed by Nasser Abdul-Reda, is one of the highlights of this year’s celebrations.
Fireworks and drone displays are also taking place every evening at the amphitheatre, while the Al Thuraya Planetarium is holding astronomy shows, colouring workshops and 'Phases of the Moon' workshop.
The Qatari Joint Special Forces have lined up a paratrooper show and parachute fireworks. Also, the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces have put on display "the best of armoury and old military tanks". A military parade featuring the army musical band is also being held each day.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Amiri Air Force has its air ambulance on display at the event, while Mawater Centre has organised a classic cars show.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy is showcasing Qatar as the world’s sports destination with a folkloric show on the occasion of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019, which is currently being hosted in Doha.
The show has the participation of 15 international communities: Pakistan, Korea, Japan, Palestine, Bangladesh, Uganda, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, Jamaica, Tunisia, Mexico, Sudan and Ghana.
Qatar Media Corporation, apart from presenting an exhibition of ancient vehicles, also has a live broadcasting studio besides displaying a radio booth model.
Ktateeb Company will hold Arabic language workshops for children, while Hamad Medical Corporation is presenting its institutional history and the ambulance service and Amal Centre for Special Needs has a programme involving youth aged over 15 years.
Also, Alfaisal Social Responsibility Centre is conducting Qatari heritage activities and popular games competitions while Al Shabhana Association has lined up educational workshops for children.
Meanwhile, Nebras Power will instal fans on the Katara Hills, while Ooredoo is featuring an electronic football game with interactive presentations based on 3D technology, on the stairs of Katara Beach Club.
The general public will have free access to all the beach games. The entire cultural village premises have been decked up in national colours and lights under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
