Music lovers were treated to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ‘Album for the Young’ (or ‘Children’s Album’) at another edition of the monthly Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) show at the Library series on December 5.
Attendees enjoyed an “especially exceptional performance” of the album’s 24 short pieces,
which were originally composed for the piano in 1878 and dedicated to Tchaikovsky’s favourite nephew, a press statement noted.
At the library, they were performed using Gennady Krutikov’s string quintet arrangement. Speaking after the concert, Ali Rashid, one of the attendees, said: “It is my first time attending the concert with my friends and we really enjoyed the show. This is what makes the library very special among other places in Qatar to visit with family and friends, as it offers programmes for everyone.” Lina Abubaker, who also attended, noted: “I am new to Qatar and came to the library for the first time to attend this concert. It made my evening even more special and I will continue to keep an eye on the library’s website to learn about future events and visit again.”
