Qatar Charity (QC) has implemented a number of productive and income generating projects in Bangladesh benefiting 300 orphans and poor families.
The projects, worth more than QR1mn, include poultry farming, fish farming, cattle breeding, shops, grain and vegetable farms, as well as sewing projects.
Through the implementation of these projects, Qatar Charity aims to help orphans and targeted poor families, improve the standard of living of its members, and provide a permanent source of income for poor families, preserving their dignity, and transforming them from needy to productive categories, through the financing and implementation of income-generating projects, in addition to supporting Agricultural, pastoral and crafts sector.


This poultry farming was set up with assistance from QC

Hafez Amin, director of Qatar Charity's office in Bangladesh, said QC is interested in such types of projects because the Bangladeshi society is heavily dependent on the agricultural sector since more than 40% of the workforce is employed in this sector. “Qatar Charity in Bangladesh is located in rural areas because such projects fit these places and also contribute to providing some of their needs.”
The beneficiaries of the Qatar Charity projects thanked the donors in Qatar, expressing their happiness for these projects that they needed most and which would provide them with a steady income, appreciating the standing of the people of Qatar with them, and also thanked the Qatar Charity office for its continuous efforts in providing them with assistance.
The number of orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity in Bangladesh is estimated at more than 6,500 people within the social welfare programme of the charity.
The Qatar Orphans Sponsorship Project, which is implemented by Qatar Charity in Bangladesh, has eight centres, orphanages and social welfare that contains internal departments, where various facilities are available.
