Doha
People with a rechargeable Standard or Goldclub travel card "are ready to travel on the Gold Line" of Doha Metro that opens to the public on Thursday, according to Qatar Rail.
"These travel cards are valid on the whole Doha Metro network and, when it opens, the Lusail Tram network," it said in a post on its Doha Metro & Lusail Tram Twitter page on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport and Communications had announced that the trial operation of the Gold Line would start for the public from Thursday.
Running from east to west across Doha, the line extends from Ras Bu Abboud Station to Al Aziziyah Station and covers a total of 11 stations.
Doha Metro users can switch between the Red Line and Gold Line at Msheireb Station. Replying to a user's query on Twitter, Qatar Rail said passengers do not have to tap out while changing from the Red Line to Gold Line.
