HE the Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri met the Chairman of the National Bureau for Human Rights of Kuwait, ambassador Jassim Mubarak al-Mubaraki, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting, held at the NHRC headquarters in the presence of the ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar Hafeez Mohamed al-Ajmi, discussed means of co-operation on issues of common interest and activating the exchange of experiences and expertise.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of signing an agreement of understanding between the NHRC and the National Bureau for Human Rights of Kuwait aimed at strengthening and protecting the close relations between the two parties in the fields of human rights, in addition to the joint organisation of training courses, conferences, forums and seminars, and studies or research on topics of common interest, especially in the presence of common factors such as demographics and social customs and traditions between the citizens of Qatar and Kuwait.
The meeting coincides with the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the United Nations honouring Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, and the designation of Kuwait as a centre for humanitarian action in deserved achievement consolidating the country’s position in international forums.
The NHRC has previous experience in co-operation with Kuwait in the promotion and establishment of a culture of human rights. The two sides have organised a training course for Kuwaiti diplomats in December 2014.
The two sides also organised a second training course in Kuwait for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior in Kuwait in March 2015 under the title: (the optimal framework for how to deal with human rights issues through the use of appropriate international and regional mechanisms) as well as the NHRC organisation of the Exhibition of Islamic Culture in Human Rights in Kuwait, as part of regional co-operation in the field of awareness and education in the field of human rights, and the qualitative partnership between NHRC and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs in  support of the Gulf-Gulf co-operation and boosting the strong relations between the two sides in the field of human rights.
