President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and his accompanying delegation Wednesday visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) and National Museum of Qatar as part of their current visit to the country.
The Rwandan president toured the museum's various sections and viewed its collections of Islamic antiquities and artifacts that include rare treasures of heritage, including books, manuscripts and coins made of silver, copper and bronze, in addition to items made of glass, ivory, textiles, wood and precious stones, and artifacts collected from three continents that date 14 centuries back.






The president also toured a temporary exhibition dubbed "Set in Stone: Gems and Jewels from Royal Indian Courts", which is organised as part of the activities of the Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture.
The Rwandan President listened to a briefing about the Museum of Islamic Art, the stages of its establishment and its role in spreading science and culture and encouraging creativity and interaction with the cultures and arts of the world.
A book about the Museum of Islamic Art was awarded to the president of Rwanda during the visit.
After the tour, President Kagame signed in the museum's golden record.
Later, the Rwandan president and his accompanying delegation went to the National Museum of Qatar, where they were given detailed explanation of the exhibits.
President Kagame visited the various exhibition halls, which showcase the origins of the geological development of the Qatar Peninsula, its natural surroundings, the archeological sites and monuments, the life of the people of Qatar, and a digital exhibition.
He was also briefed on the collections related to pearls and jewelry design, as well as the galleries of the modern Qatari history since the discovery of oil and gas.
At the conclusion of his tour, President Kagame signed in the museum's golden record.
