With yet another winter nearing, the Traffic Department is set to start preparations for the upcoming season of winter camping, assistant director of Traffic Awareness Department Lt Col Jaber Mohamed Odaiba told local Arabic daily Arrayah.
“The department is looking to raise awareness about camping through programmes in co-ordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), Civil Defence department, bicycle rental companies and other stakeholders,” he said.
The camping season will start on November 1 and last until March 31, 2020. The awareness programmes will focus on the safety and security measures that should be followed by campers and lay stress on the rules and regulations of driving caravan and trailers on the road.
He said the department is preparing statistics related to the various aspects of the previous camping season and analysing the pros and cons in order to work to avoid inconveniences.
A seminar will be held in connection with the new camping season and development of Sealine beach.
The Sealine area is considered one of the most important winter camping areas in the country.
Al Ghashamiya, Al Zubara, Dukhan, Al Sarriya, Zekreet, Buruq, Al-Naqyan, Al Kharrara, Asherij, Umm Al Maa, Ras Matbakh, Aradh, Al Reem Reserve, Al Marrona, Fuwayrit, Al Mazrouh, Umm Alafaei, Al Hasham, Abu Dhalouf, Al Zubara, Al Udeid, Rawdat Rashed, Rawdat Aisha, Al Khor, Al Waab, Emkitanh, Al Ghariya, Al Mafjar, Ras Alnouf, Al Aturiyah, Al Suna and Gharb Al Rayes also witness camping during winter.
