The first Doha City (DC) Asian Night Market opened at Aspire Park Friday putting a spotlight on Asian culture through an array of cuisines and products, as well as a traditional performance.
A festival street dance performed by students of Philippine International School Qatar enthralled a large number of families and children at the event.
Ecuadorian ambassador Ivonne A-Baki, Elite Qatar public relations manager Maryam Sayed, Innovative High-Tech Solutions CEO Renato Febbraio, other diplomats and guests were present.
DC Event CEO and managing director Victor Magnipes told reporters that part of the programme includes giving an appreciation award for HOPE Qatar Centre for Differently Abled Children and Youth as DC’s honourary guest to the month-long event.
Organisers are also set to announce the winners of the Best Food and Non-Food stalls. More than 30 food stalls provide visitors with a wide range of Asian cuisine while non-food vendors offer a variety of products, ranging from apparel and cosmetics to toys and kitchenware, among items.
The event is showcasing some of the best Asian restaurants and eateries in Qatar, including Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Thai, Korean, Turkish and Arab outlets, apart from specialty cafes and ice cream shops.
Young visitors also have the opportunity to learn cupcake and pizza-making, at the event.
Asian Night Market, running until November 16 at Aspire’s Children’s area, will also feature festival dances, modern production numbers, acoustic night, and other live acts during the weekends.
