*Unique event aims to promote cultural exchange between Asian, Qatari and other expat communities through food, products and traditional songs and dances

The first-ever Doha City Asian Night Market is set to kick off at Aspire Park on October 17, offering a variety of Asian cuisines and products that cater to families, foodies, and residents across communities in Qatar.
The month-long event, organised by DC Event Management and Services in co-operation with Italian company Innovative Hight-Tech Solutions, will also feature cultural performances by students from various schools in Doha during the weekends.
“The concept of DC Asian Night Market 2019 was born out of an inspiration to gather the various Asian communities in Qatar and share with the locals and other expatriate communities the diverse and colourful cultures of Asia through food, crafts and performances,” DC Event CEO and managing director Victor Magnipes told reporters recently.
He said the event aims to provide a platform for Asian businesses in Qatar of varying scale to promote their ventures, especially among Qatari and expatriate communities. It will be open from 5pm to midnight.
More than 30 food stalls will showcase a diverse menu of Asian delicacies that appeals to the international market while non-food vendors will offer an array of products such as apparel, cosmetics, toys, and kitchenware, among others.
“We are featuring among the best Asian restaurants in the country including Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Thai, Korean, Turkish and Arab outlets,” Magnipes said. “We also have some local specialty cafes joining us, as well as outlets selling desserts like ice cream, yogurt and the hugely popular bubble tea drinks.”
For entertainment, he said that different schools and community groups have been invited to perform festival dances, modern production numbers, acoustic night and other live acts from Thursday to Saturday.
Various community groups such as chorale, theatre, dance crews and singers will also entertain the crowd with their performances, while an Acoustic Night will be part of the regular weekend programme.
Led by professional groups and culinary experts, Magnipes said children will have the opportunity to learn cupcake (hosted by WASAHQ Culinary Arts), and pizza making at the event.
Vendors will also be encouraged to decorate their stalls aimed at highlighting the countries they represent. The best food and non-food stalls will be selected and awarded during the opening day.
“We are glad to partner with DC Event for the Asian Night Market to showcase our first-class events equipment and technology and to provide quality entertainment to complete the memorable experience of shoppers and diners joining the month-long bazaar,” said Innovative Hight-Tech Solutions CEO Renato Febbraio said.
