Rain and thundery conditions were reported from parts of the country yesterday, and the Qatar Met department has said there is a chance of scattered rain in some places today as well.
Images and videos posted on social media, including the Met department’s Twitter and Facebook pages, showed rain and hail in different places – including Sheehaniya – yesterday.
The department tweeted that thunder cells were monitored in the central and northern parts of the country and advised people to be careful. Earlier, it reported a thunderstorm in the northwestern part of the country.
Today’s forecast says it will be misty in some places at first, followed by a relatively hot day with local cloud formation. There is a possibility of scattered rain in some places by the afternoon.
Scattered clouds are expected offshore along with a weak chance of light rain at times.
The maximum temperature today is expected to be 37C in Doha.
Yesterday, a maximum temperature of 39C was recorded in Karana and Batna, followed by 38C in Turayna, 37C in Abu Hamour, Sheehaniya and Abu Samra, among others, 36C in the Qatar University area and 35C in Doha (airport area) and other places.
