Qatar national team riders stole the limelight during the first stage of the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) Cycling League at the Al Thakira Youth Centre last Friday.
Qatar team’s Abdullah al-Jaaidi and Sophie Clarke of Rasen Adventure won the men’s and women’s category ‘A’ races respectively. It was a keenly contested event in more ways than one with the first outing of the season attracting 120 riders, despite the high temperatures and humidity forcing a short 65km route.
In the category ‘B’, a springboard for the young riders, Nayef al-Mesallam of Qatar national team won the race ahead of David Jones of Velostar and Jaco Anderson of Rasen Adventure. The second stage of the league will be held in the first week of November at Al Guwayriyah.
