The maximum temperature is expected to drop below 40C in Doha and most areas of Qatar from Saturday, October 5, the Qatar Met department said in a tweet on Wednesday.

This will follow the spell of humid conditions that the country is currently experiencing. The weather office had recently said the humid spell was likely to prevail until the weekend with a chance of mist/fog in some areas late at night and early in the morning.

Thursday's forecast says poor visibility is expected in some places by early this morning due to misty to foggy conditions. It will be hot during the day and slightly dusty conditions are also likely at times, and it will be relatively humid by night.

Visibility may drop to 2km or less due to the prevailing conditions, according to the Met department.

Misty conditions are also expected at times offshore along with some clouds.

The maximum temperature on Thursday is expected to be 44C in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Abu Samra, 43C in Doha and 42C in Al Khor.

Wednesday, a maximum of 44C was recorded in Abu Samra, Turayna and Karana, followed by 43C in Doha (airport area), Abu Hamour, Sheehaniya, Mesaieed and Batna, and 42C in the Qatar University area, Umm Bab and other places.
