The Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (Qeeri) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has confirmed Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) as a strategic partner for the International Conference in Sustainable Energy Water Environment Nexus in the Desert Region (IC-SEWEN’19).

The biennial conference, set to take place from December 2 to 5 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, promotes a better understanding of links between energy, water and the environment, and identifies key priority areas for human development and environmental sustainability.

More than 400 researchers from around the world are expected to attend IC-SEWEN’19 to share updates on research, technology and innovations impacting the energy-water-environment nexus.

The partnership was agreed at a meeting attended by Mohamed Ali Saleh al-Mohannadi, public relations and communication manager, Kahramaa; Dr Veronica Bermudez, conference chair; Dr Dalia El Toukhy, Tarsheed adviser, Kahramaa; Nada Ahmed M A al-Amri, operations officer, and Fathima Mona Thowfeek, sponsorships co-chair, IC-SEWEN’19.

As part of the upcoming IC-SEWEN’19, Qeeri, in co-operation with the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, Tarsheed is to host a ‘Young Innovator Award’ competition for students at all national and international schools in Qatar.
