The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), in co-operation with US Department of Energy, held the first induction meeting on preventing smuggling and trafficking in other radioactive nuclear materials.
Abdullah Juma al-Muraikhi, assistant director, radiation and chemicals protection department at the MME, said in a speech on the occasion that such meetings come within the framework of enhancing the Qatari-American co-operation in preventing smuggling and trafficking in other radioactive nuclear materials.
The meeting included lectures and seminars, as well as reviewed the US international programmes related to the focus of the meeting, and to identify modern technologies and techniques in the field of detection and verification of radioactive and nuclear materials.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various authorities and experts from the US Department of Energy and the US embassy in Doha. (QNA)
