Following its mandate to advance the rule of law through international engagement, a delegation from the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) is participating in the International Bar Association Annual Conference Seoul (IBA 2019) from today until September 27 at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul, South Korea.
For the third consecutive year, QICDRC returns to the IBA stage as a gold sponsor “whose growing outreach initiatives have helped strengthen the international legal community and contribute to economic growth in Qatar and beyond”, according to a press statement.
With more than 5,000 attendees from across the global legal network in attendance, the IBA annual conference continually attracts a wide range of judicial experts on a unique networking platform. As a result, QICDRC’s participation “reconfirms its position as an international leader in the resolution of civil and commercial disputes”, the statement noted. Noting the conference’s far-reaching scope, Faisal al-Sahouti, CEO of QICDRC, said: “We look forward to engaging with global thought-leaders in the judicial field and exchange valuable insights on current legal trends, opportunities and challenges. At QICDRC, we recognise that an integrated legal community, anchored in common standards of dispute resolution in line with the rule of law, is essential to economic growth and prosperity.
“Qatar’s geographical location also allows QICDRC to serve as a strategic link between East and West – a bond that we hope to advance in one of Asia’s most forward-thinking commercial hubs.”
Under the IBA 2019 scope, QICDRC will host a seminar on ‘The Rise of the Commercial Courts in Asia and the Middle East’, featuring a welcome note from the CEO and high-level panel discussions.
This year’s conference will emphasise the importance of technology within modern access to justice. This falls in line with QICDRC’s rapid digitalisation efforts.
