The Vancouver Canucks and restricted free agent forward Brock Boeser agreed to a three-year, $17,625,000 contract, the team announced Monday night.
The new deal carries an average annual value of $5,875,000 for the 22-year-old right winger. “We’re very pleased to have Brock re-sign,” Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a statement.
“He’s a talented player, a key contributor to our offense and an important part of our team’s future. We look forward to having Brock join the team in preparation for the upcoming season.”
Boeser finished third on the Canucks last season with 56 points (26 goals, 30 assists) in 69 appearances. The Burnsville, Minnesota, native also was chosen the NHL All-Star Game MVP in 2018. Drafted No 23 overall in 2015 by Vancouver, Boeser has 59 goals and 57 assists in 140 career games. That production has come despite some injury troubles. Boeser missed the final 16 games of Vancouver’s 2017-18 season with a back ailment, and he sat out 11 games with a groin injury last season.

Flyers, Konecny agree to 6-year, $33mn deal
Restricted free agent forward Travis Konecny and the Philadelphia Flyers agreed to terms on a six-year, $33mn deal, the club announced Monday.
“I’m really excited about signing with the Flyers and being able to call Philadelphia home for the next six years,” the 22-year-old Konecny said. “I can’t wait to get back with my teammates and to start a new relationship with the coaching staff. It’s on me now to work hard and make up for the couple days I wasn’t able to be here.”
The contract will run through the 2024-25 season with an average annual value of $5.5mn. “We are happy to have Travis under contract for the next six seasons,” general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement. “Travis has shown progression in each of his three seasons and is an integral part of our group of young forwards. His speed, skill and tenacity sets him apart in today’s NHL.”
Last season, Konecny collected 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points, the latter two categories being career highs. The first-round pick (24th overall) by the Flyers in 2015 has 124 points (59 goals, 65 assists) over 233 games in his three-year NHL career, all with the Flyers.

Bruins sign D Carlo to two-year, $5.7mn deal
The Boston Bruins locked up another young defenseman Tuesday, signing Brandon Carlo to a two-year contract worth $5.7mn. Just two days earlier, the Bruins signed Charlie McAvoy, who also was a restricted free agent, to a three-year, $14.7mn deal.
Carlo, 22, appeared in 72 regular-season games with Boston in 2018-19, tallying 10 points (two goals, eight assists) with a plus-22 rating. He added two goals and two assists in 24 playoff games.
The Bruins selected Carlo in the second round (37th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.
