The wife of Tunisia's late president Beji Caid Essebsi died on Sunday, as Tunisians were voting to elect his successor less than two months after his death.
Chadlia Farhat, Essebsi's widow, died at the age of 83, Tunisia's state news agency TAP reported without details.
Her son, Hafedh, confirmed her death in a Facebook post.
She died at a military hospital in Tunis to which she had been transferred Saturday after suffering an unspecified health problem, Tunisian media reported. Tunisia's presidential elections, originally scheduled for November, were pushed forward after Essebsi, the country's first democratically elected president, died on July 25, five months before the end of his term. He was 92.
