HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Yousuf bin Mohamed al-Othman Fakhroo on Saturday said localising jobs, increasing the Qatarisation ratios and qualifying Qatari cadres contribute to advancing national economy.

Speaking on the sidelines of the career fair organised by Qatar National Bank (QNB) Group, HE the Minister said preparations are underway to launch a package of initiatives aimed at increasing the rates of Qatarisation in many sectors and areas in the country.

He pointed out that there is co-ordination between the various institutions and agencies to activate and strengthen many of the procedures during the coming period, in addition to raising the level of co-ordination between these bodies to increase Qatarisation rates and create job opportunities for citizens in all fields.

HE the Minister praised QNB for organising the career fair, pointing out that the QNB Group is one of the leading institutions in the field of localisation, increasing Qatarisation rates and qualifying Qatari cadres.

He also praised the efforts made by other bodies in the country to develop Qatari cadres and provide outstanding opportunities for citizens.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of QNB Abdullah Mubarak al-Khalifa said the percentage of Qatarisation in the group is one of the highest in the Qatari banking sector, where it exceeded 50%. He added that the percentage of Qataris in senior leadership positions is over 77% and that 82% of the bank's branch managers are Qataris. Some 40% of the Group staff are women, he added.

He stressed that these numbers indicate the growth and development of Qatari employees.

He noted that the QNB Group has established a number of partnerships with national universities, such as Qatar University, in order to develop competencies through training and scholarships for students.

The career fair witnessed a high turnout. QNB received a large number of applications for employment and training submitted by those wishing to join the bank.

It provides the latest banking services to its customers through 1,100 branches and representation offices, in addition to 4400 ATMs. QNB Group employs more than 30,000 people.
