Despite 40 years spent outside the borders of the Arab world, Ghaddaf is still haunted by the spirit of the East, moving his feathers with strong nostalgia to recover the warmth of sand and shine of Arabic crafts.
“The exhibition offers a rich artistic experience of the artist Ali Ghaddaf not only in its visual dimension but also in its human aspect,” said Katara – the Cultural Village general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, who inaugurated the exhibition.
“Katara Art Centre always presents distinctive and rich artistic and human artistic experiences, which reinforces the orientation of Katara’s activities and exhibitions to build bridges of communication between cultures and peoples,” he added.
For his part, Ozan Ghaddaf, the manager of the artist, said: “Ali Ghaddaf presents through this exhibition contemporary abstract works inspired by the mix between the Arab architectural heritage and contemporary art. He expressed this through the overlap between colour and ancient architecture using a variety of materials”.
The exhibition will run until September 30 at building 5.
